Note: If you are starting with this lesson and are not using the lessons in order, you must first import the correct libraries archive found in the lesson folder. In the preferences panel under ‘Diagnostics’ click the ‘Import Libraries’ button and choose ‘library-lesson-8.phxlib

1. Place Die Template

Step 1 Create new job by clicking on the ‘+’ sign in the upper left portion of the Artboard or byselecting “New Job” from the File menu.

Step 2 Apply B1 Press by dragging the press from the Press panel onto the Artboard.

Step 3 – Go to File menu and select “Place Die Template...”

Step 4 In the File Dialog, select quackers-carton.cf2 from this lesson’s folder and click “Open”

The Die Template will be imported into the job and will be listed in the files panel under “imported Die Templates”.

Alternative: Drag and drop the CF2 file into Phoenix externally from the file folder

2. Assigning Artwork directly to Die Template

Step 2 Make sure you are in Layout View and select the layout by clicking on it in the Artboard

Step 3 Click the Choose Artwork button in the Artboard Toolbar to select artwork to snap to die and select quackers-carton-red.pdf from this lesson’s folder and click “Open”

A new product will be created and placed into the template with the artwork snapped automatically into the right position

Alternative: Drag and drop the artwork file into the layout while holding the Control key

Step 4 Inspect job layout which should have nine instances of the red carton artwork snapped into place

3. Export Job as Imposed PDF

Step 1 – Go to File menu and select “Export PDF...”

Step 2 Accept default values by clicking “OK” at the lower-right corner of the PDF Export dialog

Step 3 Save PDF file to desktop as lesson-8.pdf

Step 4 Open exported PDF file in default PDF viewing application
