Note: If you are starting with this lesson and are not using the lessons in order, you must first import the correct libraries archive found in the lesson folder. In the preferences panel under ‘Diagnostics’ click the ‘Import Libraries’ button and choose ‘library-lesson-8.phxlib

1. Import CF2 Die Template and Assign Artwork

Step 1 Create new job by clicking on the ‘+’ sign in the upper left portion of the Artboard or by selecting “New Job” from the File menu.

Step 2 Apply B1 Press by dragging the press from the Press panel onto the Artboard.

Step 3 – Go to File menu and select “Place Die Template...”

Step 4 In the File Dialog, select quackers-carton.cf2 from this lesson’s folder and click “Open”The file will be imported into the job and placed into the artboard in one step.

Step 5 Click the Choose Artwork button in the Artboard Toolbar to select artwork to snap to die and select quackers-carton-red.pdf from this lesson’s folder and click “Open”

Artwork will be snapped automatically into the right position in the die in the same way as from Product View


Alternative
: Drag and drop the artwork file into Phoenix while holding the Control key

2. Change Job from Flatwork to Sheetwise

Step 1 From the Dropdown in the artboard toolbar select sheetwise.

Step 2 – In the Artboard Toolbar click on “Back” button to view the back side of the job

Step 3 – Right click on the template and select ‘unlock’

Step 4 Select the layout in the Artboard and drag the mouse to move

Step 5 – In the Artboard Toolbar click on “Front” button to view the front side of the job again

Step 6 Notice the template is moved to synchronize position with the back side

Step 7 Select the template in the Artboard and click Align center horizontal button in the

Artboard Toolbar to move the template back to the horizontal center of the sheet

Step 8 – Click Align center vertical button in the Artboard Toolbar to move the template back to the vertical center of the sheet

3. Change Job from Sheetwise to Perfecting

Step 1 From the Dropdown in the artboard toolbar select Perfecting.

The job will now mirror layout vertically instead of horizontally

Step 2 Move the template in the Artboard and click on Back and Front Artboard Toolbar buttons to observe synchronized positions between sides

Step 3 Use alignment buttons in the Artboard Toolbar again to center the Die Template on the sheet

4. Assign Artwork to Back Side of Product

Step 1 – Go to Products Panel and double click on the product “New Product 1” to enter ProductView

Step 2 – Click on the “Back” button in the Artboard Toolbar to go to the back side of the product

Note: Back sides of products are editable regardless of whether the current job layout is single or double sided.

Step 3 Click on the Choose Artwork button to select artwork to snap to the back side of the product die, select quackers-carton-back.pdf and click the “Open” button

Alternative: When on the Back side of the product in Product View, drag artwork file into Phoenix while holding the Control key to snap artwork into the back side of the artwork

Step 4 Go back to Layout View and view the back side of the layout to see the back side artwork

5. Export Double-Sided Imposed PDF

Step 1 – Go to File menu and select “Export PDF...”

Step 2 Under the Layouts section ensure that export as’ single file’ is selected and sides are set to ‘both’.

This will create a two page PDF with the front-side layout on page 1 and the back side on page 2.

Step 3 Save PDF file to desktop as lesson-9.pdf

Step 4 Open exported PDF file in default PDF viewing application
