# Why Can't I Use Phoenix Manually While Running In Automation Mode?

Hot Folders and other Automation Modes in Phoenix provide extensive options for integrating Phoenix with other tools and automating tasks. However, if you try to create a new job manually, you will see the following message - "Cannot create a new job as automation is running. Please stop all automation endpoints to create a new job."

Phoenix doesn't allow new jobs to be created while automation is running (or, alternatively, automation to be started if a job is open) so that the new job doesn't interfere with automation, or vice-versa. To create a job manually, first stop any running automation endpoints.
