# How To specify And change bleed

Bleed can be set to be a default value for all jobs as well as be set individually for each product.

# Adjusting Job Default Bleed Settings

To change the default bleed setting for all new jobs:

1. Open Preferences by clicking Phoenix in the menubar (on a Mac) or Edit (on a PC) and then selecting Preferences
2. Navigate to the Job tab, and look for the Initial Bleed setting

Initial Bleed will specify the default bleed setting for all products in the job. This can be modified for each individual product in the Product Properties

# Adjusting Individual Product Bleed Settings

To change the bleed settings for individual product (or multiple products at one time):

1. Click to select the Product (or Products) you wish to modify
2. Look to the right side of the window to find the Product Properties sidebar
3. Scroll down to find the Bleed Type setting. This allows you to choose how you want bleed in this product
   • None - no bleed will be allowed for the selected product(s)
   • Contour - bleed will be specified as a distance from the contour
   • Margins - bleed will be specified as a distance from each margin
4. Adjust the Bleed Type option to your preferred setting
5. Click on the existing values to modify the bleed values, then click away or press Enter/Return to accept the setting.
